“It’s a Hit!”

Carey Fest has announced its 2017 “It’s a Hit!” schedule.
The festival opens with the annual homecoming event at Waterworks Park on Thursday, Aug. 3, and continues Friday and Saturday, Aug. 4-5, in downtown Carey.

Three Streets Over and Robin Lacy and DeZydeco appear in the beer garden Friday and Nashville Crush headlines on Saturday.
All three days feature rides, games, food and entertainment. The business showcase will be held Thursday at Waterworks Park. Thursday’s events will conclude with fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Here’s the “It’s a Hit!” schedule:
Thursday, Aug. 3:
5:30-7:30 p.m. – Local musician Livia Monet with her ukulele.
6-8:30 p.m. – Business showcase at the pavilion, sponsored by the Carey Area Chamber of Commerce.
6 p.m. – opening of Gottfried pony rides.
6 p.m. – opening of barrel train rides for the kids, sponsored by The Link.
6 p.m. – Carey FFA Barnyard.
6 p.m. – K-9 Ace demonstration with Carey’s police dog and officer Sutton Flick and friends.
6-9 p.m. – J.L.F. Knocker Ball. $5 fee.
6:15 p.m. – Junior high and high school co-ed softball games.
6:30 p.m. – Hoby Tyler the clown and Sweet Pea. Balloon sculpting.
7 p.m. – Carey competition cheerleaders. Five teams.
7:30 p.m. – Capital City Allstars competitive cheerleading.
7:30-9:45 p.m. – Booze Clues Band.
8 p.m. – Findlay Cheer Elite.
8 p.m. – The Big Green Thing.
9:30 p.m. – Fireworks.
Friday, Aug. 4, downtown:
4 p.m. – Pulled pork sandwiches at the main food tent, amusement rides, games and food vendors open.
5 p.m. – 21st Ohio Volunteer Civil War encampment at John Carey Park. Carey’s cannon will sound at intervals throughout the weekend.
5:30-8 p.m. – Twisted Strands. Celtic folk trio. West End stage on E. Findlay Street.
5:30 p.m. – Carey High School band performs near the John Carey Park gazebo.
6 p.m. – Crowning of the 2017 Carey Fest queen at the gazebo. Junior Fest royalty will also be named.
6 p.m. – Gottfried pony rides.
6:30 p.m. – J.R. Express. Scenic train ride for the entire family. Departs from near the gazebo.
6:30 p.m. – Hoby Tyler the clown and Sweet Pea. Balloon sculpting.
6:30 p.m. – Tri-county garden tractor pull. 12 classes. New location on N. Patterson Street.
7 p.m. – Junior cornhole tournament, Frederick’s IGA lot.
7 p.m. – Christian music at Memorial United Methodist Church. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
7-10 p.m. – Tri-County Blue Grass Boys at the John Carey Park Gazebo.
7-9 p.m. – Three Streets Over in the beer garden.
9 p.m.-12 a.m. – Last Minute Band. Teen dance at the West End Stage on E. Findlay Street.
9:30 p.m.-12 a.m. – Robin Lacy and DeZydeco at the beer garden.
11 p.m. – Dirty Joe and No Toes. Comedy tour duo at the gazebo.
Saturday, Aug. 5, downtown:
8-8:30 a.m. – Registration for Carey Fest 3-on-3 basketball tournament, behind Carey School.
3 p.m. – Carey Fest parade, beginning on E. Findlay Street, concluding on Patterson Street at Memorial Park Boulevard.
4 p.m. – Barbecued chicken dinners at the main food tent. Amusement rides, games and food vendors open.
4:30 p.m. – Down Beat Percussion drum line on E. Findlay Street after the parade.
5 p.m. – 21st Ohio Volunteer Civil War encampment at John Carey Park. Carey’s cannon will sound at intervals throughout the weekend.
5 p.m. – Ronald McDonald action show. Family fun at the John Carey Park gazebo.
5-5:30 p.m. – Cornhole tournament registration. Frederick’s IGA lot.
6 p.m. – Gottfried pony rides.
6 p.m. – J.R. Express. Scenic train ride for the entire family. Departs from near the gazebo.
6:30 p.m. – Hoby Tyler the clown and Sweet Pea. Balloon sculpting.
6:30 p.m. – Pantasia. Findlay High School steel drum band. West End Stage on E. Findlay Street.
6:30 p.m. – Mr. Puppet, first show at the gazebo.
7:30-9:30 p.m. – Supa Fun Band. Strolling musical trio on E. Findlay Street.
7 p.m. – McDonald’s Twilight Trot.
8 p.m. – Twilight 5K race. Starts on W. Findlay Street.
8 p.m.-12 a.m. – Nashville Crush. In the beer garden.
8:30 p.m. – Mr. Puppet, second show at the gazebo.
9 p.m.-12 a.m. – Klashing Black. Teen dance on the West End stage.
9:30-12 a.m. – Karaoke from DJ-Vu. At the gazebo.
